

#Veracrypt delete volume password#
It claims to have let me add a new password key in Zulucrypt, and also to let me back up the Veracrypt volume header which I have been unable to do all this time. When the passphrase fails to work the light flickers for a moment or two then stays on steadily. The hard drive's light always comes on then flickers whenever I try to mount it as though it's being accessed. and worked long enough to let me back up most of one directory of two that I want to try to not lose, before it changed to read-only status again (and wouldn't even let me read from it as a glance at the directory from within Dolphin showed that most of its files were "missing".) This was after having (gracefully) powered off the computer for several minutes. Once, it mounted properly as a read-write volume, taking ~5 seconds to mount which is typical when all is well.

It either doesn't appear in Zulumount's list, appears but won't accept its pass-phrase, or (occasionally) mounts OK but changes to read-only after a few moments while I'm in the middle of trying to back up some data. Many reboots and power-offs later, I can no longer access my external drive. I had not mounted my external drive as read-only. When I woke up I saw that the app wasn't working normally, and its logs said that was because it was running on a read-only drive. When I returned home after a couple of hours I started the computer, mounted the external drive using Zulucrypt, started an app on it that takes some time to initialize, then had a nap for an hour as I've been a bit under the weather lately. This morning I was accessing data on that drive as usual, then I received a reminder that I'd promised to go somewhere with an acquaintance today and that he would pick me up in an hour, so I closed all open apps, unmounted the Veracrypt volume, quit Zulumount, and did a graceful shutdown of PCLOS, then went and got ready for our little trip. 9 or 10 months ago I bought a new Toshiba 2.5 inch 2TB external HD, filled it with random data using dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdX where X was the drive's device designation, then used Zulucrypt to create a Veracrypt volume that used the entire drive, of which it gave me 1.8TB worth of encrypted space.
