The Galts never attempted an attack on Saraykeht because it was too strong for the Galts to be triumphant in the past, but that has changed because they’ve discovered a weakness in the powerful nation. The Galts are an empire who is bent on conquering and controlling all lands using the violence of their savage army to overtake them. The nation’s economy relies on the power of a constrained spirit called Seedless, who is an andat obliged to Heshai, a poet-sorcerer, for life. The book is about the affluent nation of Saraykeht that is powerful because at the center of this civilization is its thriving business and industry.
